Asha Sarath, recently achieved great critical acclaim for her acting in the film ‘Drishyam’. Thanks to her performance she will now be acting with the legendary Kamal Hassan in the Tamil remake of ‘Drishyam’. The actress will be portraying the same role in the Tamil version as the original, that of IPS officer Geetha Prabhakar. Interestingly she has already portrayed the same role in the Kannada version of ‘Drishyam’ as well. The Kannada version starred Ravichandran and Navya Nair in the lead roles while superstar Mohanlal and Meena played the roles in the Malayalam original.
The Tamil remake will be directed by the original director Jeethu Joseph. Nadhiya Moithu had played Asha Sarath’s role in the Telugu remake. For some time there were rumours that popular actress Sridevi will be play the role in Tamil. But finally it went to Asha Sarath herself. However, at present the Tamil remake of ‘Drishyam’ is facing few legal issues. Director Satish Paul has filed an injunction appeal against the remaking of ‘Drishyam’.
He alleged that the film’s plot is an unauthorized copy from his novel. However director Jeethu Joseph claimed that the screenplay was original. The Tamil version is set to feature Kamal Hassan and Gautami in the lead roles. The duo is a real life couple as well.
