Saanika Nambiar to play the lead in ‘Arikil Oraal’ remake

The acclaimed 2013 Malayalam thriller film ‘Arikil Oraal’ is all set to be remade into Tamil. In the Tamil version, the female lead will be played by model turned actor Saanika Nambiar. She will be stepping into the shoes of the character of a dancer that was played by Remya Nambeesan. Saanika made her acting debut with the 2013 film ‘Orissa’ which was honored at the Kerala State film awards.

On her role, Saanika said, “After Orissa, in which I played a village girl, most roles that came to me were similar ones. However, this role is different and I play a modern contemporary dancer.” Saanika who was the 1st runner up in the 2012 Miss Kerala contest, is now preparing for the Miss India contest. She said, “I decided I want to be a Miss India when I was four years old. This is the answer I gave everyone who asked who I want to become when I grow up.” While offers from different industries are coming in, Saanika is not yet ready to launch a full scale acting career. “Films happened to me by chance, and over time I understood that I am enjoying it. But I don’t want to rush things or give up my dream.”
